Meet the Vicar
Picture of Fr. Tom
The Reverend Tom Sramek, Jr.

Welcome!
I have served as Vicar of St. Alban's since March 2002 and from the first day have been impressed with the warm and welcoming nature of our congregation. From its earliest days, Christianity has been about groups of people gathering around a table in Christ's name to hear the story of God's relationship with men and women which is now expressed in the Bible, to hear that story interpreted and applied to their own lives which is now often done in a sermon, and to receive the bread and wine as the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist (Communion).

Here at St. Alban's, we say that we are a "community of individuals united as a family by Christ's word and sacraments and committed to caring for one another, growing in our ability to live out our faith, and sharing God's love with others in our community and the world." In other words, what unites us as a congregation is not that we have identical theological or political perspectives, but that our belief in the Bible as the word of God and the sacraments (pointers to God) of Baptism and Eucharist is what unites us. An even shorter way of saying this is that we are united by our common worship, not doctrinal agreement. There is a saying that "Jesus died to take away your sins, not your mind." We encourage people to come together in worship and to struggle with the challenge of not only believing, but living that belief.

So, join us on our spiritual journey as we think, talk, worship, give, and pray together. If you have any questions about St. Alban's, please contact me and I'd be happy to answer them. Better yet, come join us every Sunday as we worship God together!
